From setting up community-based radio listening clubs to facilitating dialogues with national policymakers, Panos has been working in a variety of ways to strengthen the voices of poor people and enable them to participate in development. Over the past 25 years we have had a demonstrable impact using these approaches. We work to ensure that the most critical sustainable development issues facing the world today are subject to intensive public debate in developing and developed countries that is balanced, informed and inclusive of the voices and perspectives of vulnerable, marginalized and excluded people. Our work involves building skills and capacity of media and other communication actors to report on local, national and global development issues. And we do this by promoting free, plural and effective media and communication channels. We work to build support in the local and international communities for media and communication as key elements of sustainable development and ensure the Panos Network of Institutes maximise their individual and collective strengths and resources.
